So far we’ve been on the island for 3 days. We’re four of my five siblings and I and some of our children and partners, 12 people all in all.
We’ve been out several times and have filled our cars with food and drink, so now the fridge is full and all the cupboards too. Two of my younger sister’s homegrown geese are cooked and just waiting for the last hour in the oven.
We’ve bathed in our pool and spa together, been out for walks and remembered our youths and childhoods and parents and grandparents and friends we haven’t seen for dekades.
We don’t talk a lot about who married whom any more. Instead we’ve brought each other up to date about who is dead, which I might add are quite a lot of the people we knew before.
We’ve also bought a beautiful Christmas tree, and while some of us went out to buy the last things for Christmas today the rest decorated the tree with mostly ornaments inherited from our parents.
Now we’re ready and waiting for Santa, who in our part of the world arrives tomorrow evening.
I wish you all a peaceful and magical Christmas with your loved ones. May Santa bring you exactly what you wished for.
Merry Christmas everyone!
